This is the first attempt at using a home made picavet to hold the camera level as it is suspended from the kite cord. I was using an Isignia HD mini camera. It weighs about 5 ounces and records on an SD micro memory chip. I found the picavet design at http://www.kaper.us/basics/BASICS_picavet_principles.htmlIf you want to build one, the instructions are thorough and I suggest the link.Materials that I used1) Plastic insect house from the $ store. I removed the netting and used this as an open basket.2) The grill off the back of a computer power supply. Ideal as it has four round eyelets that you can bend up use as the four eyelets needed in a picavet. This gets screwed onto the top of the insect house with any nut and bolt ( one hole has to be drilled in the top of the insect house)3) One mini tripod purchased at the $ plus store ($1.25) I am sure if I looked around I could find it for one dollar. The legs are removed from the tripod leaving a ball pivot with a screw hole in the bottom.Find the proper screw to match the whole under the ball joint. Use the screw to fasten the ball joint to the bottom of the rig. You are set. Screw the camera into the ball joint, aim, tighten and away you go.
